Behaviour and Culture
Behaviour and Culture
At Harris Primary Academy Kent House, we believe that positive behaviour is the foundation for successful teaching, learning, and personal development. We strive to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, respected, and able to achieve their very best.
We recognise that children are continually developing their understanding of appropriate behaviour and relationships. Through clear expectations, guidance, encouragement, and positive reinforcement, we help children learn the skills they need to become responsible, respectful, and confident members of our school community.
Our Aims
We aim to:
- promote standards of behaviour based on honesty, respect, responsibility, and consideration for others
- create a learning environment where children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn
- develop children's understanding of personal responsibility and positive decision-making
- build self-esteem, self-discipline, and positive relationships
- encourage kindness, respect, and understanding of the needs of others
- ensure fairness and inclusion for all, regardless of age, gender, race, ability, or disability
- work in partnership with parents and carers to support children’s behaviour and wellbeing
Our Academy Ethos
At Harris Primary Academy Kent House, respect is at the heart of everything we do. All members of our community are expected to treat one another with kindness, courtesy, and understanding.
Our staff model the high standards of behaviour we expect from our pupils in their interactions with children, families, colleagues, and visitors. We treat every child fairly while recognising and supporting individual needs. We encourage all pupils to work to the best of their abilities and to enable others to do the same.
Our Golden Rules
Our school values are reflected in our three Golden Rules:
- Show Respect
- Take Responsibility
- Always Make the Right Choice
These simple principles help children understand the behaviours and attitudes that contribute to a positive and successful school community.
Our expectations are shared with pupils, parents, and staff. They are introduced at the beginning of each academic year and are regularly revisited through classroom discussions, assemblies, and wider school activities to ensure they remain an active part of daily life at Kent House.
Anti Bullying
We are committed to providing a caring, friendly, and safe environment for all our children and adults so that they can learn, play, and communicate in a relaxed and secure atmosphere. Bullying of any kind is unacceptable. If bullying behaviour does occur all children and adults should be able to tell and know that all incidents will be dealt with promptly and effectively.
