Pupil Leadership

At Harris Primary Academy Kent House, we believe that every child has the potential to be a leader. Developing confidence, independence and responsibility is a key part of our approach, and we are proud to offer all pupils meaningful opportunities to take on responsibility throughout their time with us.

Every child at Kent House is trusted with a role of responsibility in school. This reflects one of our Golden Rules – Take Responsibility – and helps pupils learn that their actions matter and that they can make a positive contribution to their school community.

Leadership opportunities are carefully planned to be age appropriate and inclusive, and may include:

  • whole school roles elected by pupils
  • leadership roles that children apply for
  • responsibilities within the classroom

These roles help children develop communication skills, teamwork, resilience and self belief.

Our current pupil leadership roles include:

  • Student Council, giving pupils a voice in school decision making
  • Eco Warriors, promoting sustainability and care for the environment
  • Wellbeing Warriors, supporting positive mental health and friendships
  • Play Buddies, helping to create a happy and inclusive playground
  • Digital Leaders, supporting the safe and effective use of technology

Through these experiences, children learn to lead with kindness, respect and responsibility, preparing them well for the next stage of their education and for life beyond Kent House.
