Classes and Online Resources

Classes

By clicking on your child's yeargroup you will be able to see the learning that they are doing this half-term, broken down into each subject, along with some useful pieces of key information such as start and end times, and PE days.

Music and DT will be set as homework this term, in order to allow enough curriculum time to deliver extra wellbeing and recovery lessons.

The music curriculum can be accessed by using the login and password that your child will be given. After logging on, children will find six lessons per half-term:
https://charanga.com/yumu/login

The DT curriculum has been uploaded onto Purple Mash, and can be found here, after pressing the "Work" button at the top:

Home Learning – Useful Tips and Tools

During the closure we provided an extensive home learning resource which was available through our online learning platforms: We  primarily used the online resources of Mathletics and Purple Mash. This resource works for all children however, Reception children will use 2BAP.

These resources are still online, and working, and can be used to supplement children's learning. We would also use these again in the event of a local lockdown or closure.

These online platforms can be accessed here:

Mathletics:                  https://login.mathletics.com/

Purple Mash:               https://www.purplemash.com/login/

There is an expectation that all our children will continue with their learning at home and teachers will keep in contact with families to offer support.

Learning at home every day consists of a Maths, Literacy and Foundation piece of learning, which will be set by the teacher online. Children should also make sure that they are reading every day, and practising times tables.

Finally, it’s important that children are still active and creative, so doing some PE every day (perhaps Joe Wicks in the morning), and some Arts, Crafts, or Music would be ideal.

See the example timetables for how this could fit into the day, but altogether, this works out to around 4-5 hours of learning per day.

If you have a query please email to the info@harrisprimarykenthouse.org.uk email address and someone will advise you.

Well-Being and Support

Remind your child that if they are worried about anything or need to talk to someone while the school is closed there are places they can go for support. They can speak to a teacher about their learning in our weekly phone call to you, or you can ask for advice by email at the info@harrisprimarykenthouse.org.uk address.

If they or you have a safeguarding concern, Childline can be contacted for free on 0800 1111, or children can get support online.

Stay Healthy

Why not kick off each day of Home Learning with a PE session with Joe Wicks - Joe will be on his YouTube Channel every morning at 9.00am with a PE session suitable for small children up to secondary school age (and beyond!).

Pupils, siblings, parents, carers, staff and all of us still at school looking after our keyworker children - we will all be doing it, so please join in!

Stay In Touch!

We would love to see pictures of you all joining in with the PE sessions and doing your home learning - and this does not have to just be learning from your home learning packs.  Reading, cooking, art - send your pictures to: info@harrisprimarykenthouse.org.uk

…and we will share them with you later in the week.  We would love to tweet them too - please state in your email if you would prefer that your pictures were not shared on Twitter.

We will also put the link on the Home Learning pages of our website, together with a generic Purple Mash log in for each year group, so don't worry if your child cannot remember their log in.

Here is some guidance from the Department for Education on keeping your child safe online:
