We have two sessions in our Nursery.
The morning session starts at 8.30am and runs until 11.30am.
Our afternoon session starts at 12.30pm and runs until 3.30pm.

Mrs King runs the Nursery and she is assisted by Mrs Oakley and Mrs John.

Our play based curriculum covers the seven areas of learning. Prime Areas: PSED (Personal, Social and Emotional Development), PD (PHYSICAL Development) and CL (Communication and Language). As well as the Specific Areas: Literacy (Reading and Writing), Mathematics (number and space, shape and measure), EAD  (Expressive Arts and Design) and UTW (Understanding of the World).

The children will be encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities, that are designed to support independent learning as well as adult led learning. The children drive the learning that takes place in Nursery, Mrs King adapts and plans her sessions around the interests of the children.

Nursery enjoys a trip out of school each half term. In February, to link to our animals topic, we visited the Horniman Museum. It was wonderful.

Nursery class news

This term the children in the Nursery class are learning all about animals. This will help us to look after our new rabbits who have settled in to their rabbit pen in our lovely outdoor learning area. We have planted some carrots and broccoli to enrich their diet and use in our cooking sessions, and look forward to harvesting them nearer Easter. Our trip to the Horniman Museum will feature an animal handling activity to celebrate the end of the topic.

We have welcomed new children this term to the nursery, and they are already beginning to explore the wonderful resources we have to facilitate our nursery ethos of creating confident, competent learners. There are still nursery places available, particularly in the afternoon session. We welcome children from their third birthday. If you would like to arrange a visit to meet the nursery staff, and view our early years environment designed to enable and support learning and development, please contact the school office. We will also be hosting an open afternoon for prospective families on Wednesday 10th February from 2pm to 3:30pm all are welcome.

We would love to welcome your child into our nursery, as soon as they are 3 years old. Please call the main office for an application pack on 02084027178
